Opening hours by season

The garden opens every day at 9:30 am, weekends and public holidays included. It closes at 7:30 pm from March to September, at 6:30 pm in February and October, and at 6 pm from November to January. During Ramadan it opens from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

What to see

The site goes back to the 16th century, when the Saadian dynasty developed the Mouassine district. The present palace was rebuilt in the mid 19th century on the Saadian plan, then fell into ruin. Restored and redesigned by landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, it opened to the public in 2016.

There are two gardens: a large Islamic garden, laid out in four parts around a fountain with strict geometry, and a smaller exotic garden with plants from five continents. The tower looks over the medina rooftops and, on clear days, the Atlas.

Best time to visit

At opening, 9:30 am, before the heat and the guided medina tours. The garden is small and a few groups are enough to fill it. Keep the tower for last; the view is clearest in the morning.

Restaurant and cafe

A cafe inside the garden serves drinks and light food in the shade, a good pause in the middle of a medina walk.

Getting there

Le Jardin Secret is in the heart of the medina, a few minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fna square through the souks. To continue with a day trip, your WhereToGoMorocco driver can pick you up at the nearest medina gate.
